CWA Veterans for Social Change

CWA is making sure that our resources are supporting veterans and their families who have made incredible sacrifices in the service of our country and the safety and protection of all people. This program seeks to develop and organize a broad base of CWA activists who are veterans and/or currently serving in the military to strengthen our union by engaging our veterans and all CWAers on broader issues that affect working-class veterans such as good jobs, a strong and fully funded VA, healthcare, corporate greed, etc.

Military veterans, service members, and their families are being constantly exploited by corrupt politicians and others who seek to loot our economy, attack our communities, and divide our nation with racism and bigotry so they can consolidate more power amongst themselves. These same forces seek to exploit working people as a whole by attacking unions, cutting social safety net programs, giving tax breaks to the rich etc.

We are fighting back by empowering veterans to take control of their own narratives. This program allows CWA veterans to contribute to our continued fight for social change, engage in grassroots campaigns with community allies, increase awareness of veterans’ issues within CWA and beyond and help provide essential resources to veterans.

"Just as our veterans are showing that they are CWA Strong by fighting for our union values, CWA is making sure that our resources are supporting veterans and their families."
~ Christopher M. Shelton, CWA President, United States Air Force
