Megan Simpson

IUE-CWA Local 83761, Louisville, KY

Megan is a proud member of IUE-CWA Local 83761 in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is a replacement operator for General Electric. She has been a member of the union and the Local’s Political Action Committee since she started at GE in September 2022. Megan studied communications at Western Kentucky University and Indiana University Southeast and has always been interested in serving her community, with a special passion for politics and human rights. She has been active in recent political campaigns, volunteering for Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, President Joe Biden, and Amy McGrath’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
“I can’t wait to begin working with Next Gen to bring more young people into our union family,” said Megan. “I always say that I was born an activist. I really want to educate people on how important local politics are and motivate other folks my age to get involved. I would say the labor movement is in my blood. My grandpa was a member of the United Mine Workers, and my dad was a member of IBEW for 42 years!”
When not at work or involved in a volunteer project, Megan enjoys reading, painting, and listening to podcasts. “I live in a beautiful state, so I love spending time with friends and family outdoors and hanging out with my cat Oliver, too,” she added.
