The CWA Joe Beirne Foundation offers partial college scholarships each academic year. CWA members and their spouses, children and grandchildren, including those of retired or deceased members, are eligible. Winners are chosen by lottery drawing.
The "Shame on Whirlpool" campaign is going strong, with CWA, IUE-CWA and AFL-CIO activists pressing the company not to close its Evansville, Ind., refrigerator plant and move those jobs to Mexico.
