As U.S. Senate Plans Vote this Week, Outcry Over Anti-Worker FAA Bill Grows

As the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization legislation moves toward a Senate vote early this week, a rising chorus of voices is making clear their opposition as the horrendous impact on workers becomes clear. Among the problems: the FAA legislation is a ?compromise? in name only, would set a dangerous precedent by amending 75 year old labor law, and would inflict significant harm on union organizing efforts.

House Approves Attack on Workers' Rights, Senate Can Step Up

Despite strong Democratic opposition, the House of Representatives voted 248-169 to approve a blatant attack on workers' rights as part of the Federal Aviation Administration Reauthorization bill. Some 157 Democrats voted against the measure.

700,000-Member Communications Workers of America Endorses Re-election of President Barack Obama

The 700,000-member Communications Workers of America today endorsed the re-election of President Barack Obama as President of the United States. In a unanimous endorsement, CWA's Executive Board said:

"In the last year, we've seen the start of a growing movement to take back our country and to end the control of corporations and the wealthy that truly threatens our democracy. We need elected leaders who support this movement to restore democracy. President Obama is that leader."
