Contracts Covering About 18,000 Workers Expire at AT&T Midwest and Legacy T

Negotiations Are Continuing, Contracts Are Extended

Washington, D.C. – Contracts covering AT&T workers represented by the Communications Workers of America at AT&T Midwest and Legacy T expired at midnight tonight. The contracts will be extended until Tuesday, April 14 at 12:00 Noon, EDT while negotiations continue.

Employment security and opportunity are the key issues, as well as fair wage increases and a fair minimum wage, and retirement and health security.

Last week, CWA members at both AT&T Midwest and Legacy T voted overwhelmingly to authorize union leaders to call a strike if a fair contract can’t be reached and the CWA Executive Board has approved that action.

CWA represents 700,000 workers in telecommunications, media, airlines, public service and manufacturing, including 13,000 workers at AT&T Midwest and about 4,500 at AT&T Legacy T.
